Natalie Eichengreen's "Woman X"

Israeli born artist and photographer, Natalie Eichengreen spends her time between her home and New York. Eichengreen’s diverse portfolio consists of works documenting her time with the Israeli Defense Force, to fantastical, nostalgic nudes.

Eichengreen’s recent project, aptly titled “Woman X” combines elements of performance and street art. Eichengreen collaborated with her close friends and fellow artists to create a series of portraits. The subtle portraits portray women dressed traditionally. Eichengreen then printed and wheat pasted these beautiful, seemingly non-offensive portraits throughout conservative, orthodox neighborhoods. The documentation of the pastings are combined with found images that display the censorship of women to paint a picture of women’s repression within orthodox Jewish culture.
