Sarah Pfohl is a photographer based in Central New York. Her recent project, “The Country Line Road” features images of her mother who has lived in rural New York for 52 years. Shot in southern Madison County, New York, Pfohl’s photographs documents the vastness of the 26-acre tract of land that her family owns.
Pfohl’s photographs embed her mother into the spreads of beautiful landscape. A metaphor for impending urban development and human presence in the wilderness, the body of Pfohl’s mother also projects Pfohl’s personal history and emotional involvement with the otherwise anonymous scenery.
