Sadie Wechsler is ” invested in photography as a medium capable of transfiguration, it has the ability to mimic an existence that fluctuates between tangible and imaginary states.”
There is an air of mystery to Wechsler’s contrasting sequence of images. While Wechsler’s images are mostly grounded in reality, the “documentary” images from her personal life are transformed into something completely different when juxtaposed with an otherworldly aesthetic and staged photographs. Capturing a variety of moments that seem to not immediately relate to one another, Wechsler employs a very pointed perspective to examine “the slow transformation of bodies and land.”
