I think that one of the reasons I like Tumblr for looking at photography is that it lies somewhere right in between the over-thought and often minimal portfolio site and the sunsets-kittens-brunch-foods aesthetic of other sharing sites. When you see a photo on Tumblr, you see it, almost as a rule, in an out of context setting. Depending on who you follow, the next post could be anything from an essay on feminism to a GIF of Oprah exploding out of a pizza.
Each post is kind of like an invitation that you can either accept or pass on. Here are 5 photos that have stopped the endless scroll and led me somewhere else.
