Lost Boys is a portrait series of young men who have encountered adulthood, and then returned to their parent’s suburban homes after spending time on their own. The series belongs to photographer Liz Calvi, and the portraits depict young men facing a reality of returning home in a culture that places such value on self-sufficiency and independence from the family unit at such a young age. The circumstances surrounding Calvi’s subjects range from home sickness and a longing for comfort to the simple need to save money for other financial obligations. Her subjects are simultaneously vulnerable and courageous, as her considerate approach touches on the relationship between masculinity, adulthood, and home.
