Lavender Chang: Portraits

In her personal work, Singaporean based photographer, Lavender Chang maintains an interest in conceptually driven images. Through her photographs, Chang taps into the subtle nuances of her surroundings. Her images are sensitive. Chang treats her photographs like a canvas: images are collaged, overlaid, painted over.

Featured in this article, Chang’s editorial portraits demonstrate her interest in depicting the core of her subject’s soul and personality. Her fluid approach towards the photographic image allows her to create commercial images that function beyond illustration, but as sincere interpretation of the prestigious individuals that Chang captured with her lens.

Her works have been exhibited in International Orange Photo Festival (China, 2010), Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards 2011. She received Gold and Silver awards at The Crowbar Awards, and she is the winner of Noise Singapore Prize 2011.
