Alexis Vasilikos is a Greek photographer based in Athens. Driven by intuition and curiosity, his images capture details from the everyday.Vasilikos’s photographs adds a sense of poetry to literal objects and situations. Vasilikos removes mundane moments and objects from their original contexts. By photographing them Vasilikos obscures and reveals the narratives of his findings. The strength of Vasilikos’s images lies in his ability to blend personal and literal meanings of objects and situations. Vasilikos re-appropriates real life to create his own language in which he communicates his own sense of being.
In addition to creating his own photographs, Vasilikos also co-edits a well-followed online photography magazine, Phases, with Jerome Montagne.
