Stefano Marchionini works with the common obsession amongst many artists—blurring the line between fact and fiction. Working with archived material, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is a surrealist series that suggests an identical end to all undesirable options.
Marchionini’s Kubrick-esque photographs are reminiscent of Hixson’s work, in which both artists depend on the consumption of nostalgia and sentimentality to bridge their narrative.
